Paul Damany MICM - Managing Director

Aged just 15, Paul first tasted debt collection whilst on a weeks work experience at a prestigious London law firm. Such was the impression he left behind, the Partner in charge of Debt Recovery contacted his School to offer him a full time position upon completion of his exams.

After spending 6 years with the firm, and still only 21, he was head-hunted by a local debt collection agency to form part of their senior management structure and within 18 months he had gained a full MICM accreditation to become one of the youngest members the institute had seen.

In 1999 and already harbouring almost 10 years experience, 24 year old Paul had become an established personality within the industry which lead to an approach from Adam Clark, a Finance Director within the Import/Export industry, who saw Paul as the perfect candidate to manage his credit control team. However by the end of their negotiations, Paul had somehow managed to convince Adam to join him in a new enterprise he had been working on called Icon Collections and as the saying goes, the rest is history.

Within the first year of trading Paul was runner-up among a field of almost one hundred contestants in the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ category at an award ceremony for a national finance magazine.

Whilst being our major shareholder here at Icon, Paul also manages to find time during his demanding week to spearhead his property management company and has recently launched a third enterprise by opening a business centre in Bromley.

Outside of the office Paul plays Poker to a professional standard and has featured in some of the worlds biggest tournaments including the 2008 World Championships in Las Vegas where he finished as the UK's best placed player in one of the events.

Ever the optimist, Paul still believes they are 30 hours a day.
